What are Sauna Kits?

Who wouldn’t love to have a sauna in their house, or outside somewhere on their property, or by their pool? Building a sauna can seem like a huge task and deter many a building from installing one.

That’s where sauna kits come in. Sauna kits are fantastic prefabricated saunas that come to you all ready to be put together, which much more ease than building a sauna from scratch.

There are quite a few different types of sauna kits. Which one you will need will depend on your building ability, the amount of space you have available, and how much time you want to spend installing your sauna.

However, before deciding which kit you want, you must decide what kind of sauna you want. That’s right there are now two very different types of saunas available. The first of which is the conventional sauna. It uses water, and a heating element. It uses steam to heat the room. Heating in this manner takes up to 90 minutes. You must have some understanding of plumbing to install this type of sauna.

The second, and newer type of sauna uses infrared heat instead of steam to heat your sauna. This type of sauna is much easier to install, as there is no plumbing to mess with. These saunas also do not need any dedicated electrical source as they do not have any water involved. They are much quicker to heat up and only require a regular outlet for electricity.

Once you’ve decided on which kind of sauna you want to install comes the decision of what kind of sauna kit you will need. There are two main types of sauna kits, and although many think the terms are interchangeable, they are in fact, almost the opposite.

Modular Sauna Kits

These are the sauna kits that will be the easiest to put together, they are also the most expensive type of sauna kit. The modular or “pre built” sauna kit is exactly that. It comes with the walls put together already. All you have to do is put the wall panels together and you will have a functional room. You will still need to install benches and a heater, but the room itself , which is the most difficult portion of the build will be ready.

Pre Cut Sauna Kits

This sauna kit requires you have some framing knowledge, as you will have to frame and insulate the walls yourself. Once you have the room framed in and insulated you will use the pre cut, tongue in groove wood provided on the inside of your framing. You will also need to finish the exterior of your sauna with this kit.

Whether you decide on a prefab modular kit or a pre cut kit, using a sauna kit will decrease the time involved in building your sauna as well as the amount of frustration. You can easily have your sauna up and running in less than a weekend with a pre cut sauna kit to only a couple hours with the prefab modular kit. The choice is up to you.
